NewLimit raises $435M led by Founders Fund to bring longevity medicines to human trials
We’ve closed a $435M Series C led by Founders Fund alongside new investors Thrive Capital, Greenoaks, and Quiet Capital, and returning investors Kleiner Perkins, Abstract, Nat Friedman/Daniel Gross, Valor Equity Partners, Eli Lilly Ventures, Human Capital, and others.
We are bringing our first aging reprogramming medicine to human clinical trials next year. The accelerated timeline to trial is driven by the breakthrough discovery of a prototype medicine that reverses cell age in old human liver cells.
Reprogramming medicines
NewLimit’s medicines are designed to restore youthful function in old cells through epigenetic reprogramming. Defying prior dogma, this emerging science has demonstrated that aging is plastic at the cellular level. Reversing cellular age has the potential to both treat diseases of aging and preserve health in nearly everyone. The opportunity for aging medicines is then orders-of-magnitude larger than traditional therapeutics.
Our early work developed the artificial intelligence and genomics technology necessary to discover age reprogramming medicines. We’ve deployed these tools across therapeutic programs spanning metabolic, vascular, and immune health, resulting in our first medicine that reverses the age of liver cells.
Our liver reprogramming therapy allows livers to heal faster after injury, avoid damage from dietary challenges, and accelerate recovery from alcohol consumption. Our trial next year will reveal how liver age reprogramming translates into humans for the first time. Over the coming years, we will add new therapeutic programs and bring a diverse portfolio of therapies into the clinic.
We founded NewLimit to create medicines that treat aging and add healthy years to each of our lives. We initially believed it would take more than a decade to bring one of these products into human trials. Based on our recent scientific results, we’ve accelerated our timelines and plan to initiate our first human trial next year.
We are grateful to the investors who have joined us in this ambitious mission. In the success case, we believe inventing medicines for aging is one of the few projects that can benefit humanity for centuries to come. As the world grows more abundant, health only becomes valuable.
